Tip of the Week - The Law of Two Feet

Updated: Oct 5, 2022

Someone or something have you down? Find paths to relief in this Tip For Sanity.

So, someone or something has you unhappy?

Peeved? Irritated? Completely apoplectic? Well, what the heck do you do with that? Good process work works sometimes. You permanently resolve issues internally, and land at your core, your freedom and simple Self-expression. Later, we'll investigate steps for quick and effective process work. Or, you could rally against the thing that is frustrating you. Say "no", picket, stand up against whatever blocks life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, let's also remember: What we resist, persists. In a later chapter we will investigate the protective use of force in ways that don't reinforce our opponents' will. Meanwhile, when someone or something has you unhappy, there's a third option. When in doubt, walk it out.

When in doubt, use the Law of Two Feet - go and follow your bliss.

"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." - Einstein Since we can't create a solution at the level the problem was created, to solve a problem simply, just render it obsolete. “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” - R. Buckminster Fuller So how can you use The Law of Two Feet to make an existing problem obsolete? Follow your curiosities. Follow your bliss. "I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." - George Bernard Shaw Don't argue with whatever has you unhappy. Just go where you want to be. Create what you wish to experience. Be the change. You are the hero you're looking for. What are you waiting for? Nothing is perfect or complete or whole, only Source, the Fountainhead of Existence. (Of course nothing is perfect or whole. That's natural. It's the nature of Nature - all of Creation is partial. As The Great All, you cannot have communion without separation, and you cannot have appreciation without an Other with eyes to observe you.)

If you're spending a lot of time unhappy, complaining, or replaying the same unfulfilling story over and over then it's possible that either:

  • you're not giving yourself proper self-empathy or empathy support**

  • you're not busy enough making do-able requests**

  • you're not busy enough finding what feels good.

So go! Enjoy what you enjoy, let the rest go, and go Be the experience you seek. "Don't dream it, be it." - Rocky Horror Picture Show None of it is real anyway. It's the matrix, the dreamers dream. And one day we'll all die. Life is short, so we might as well do all we can to enjoy it. That goes for all of life, people, and even this writing. If there something you don't like, go where you want instead. Just walk away. Follow your nose, and go follow your bliss. That is the Law of Two Feet. Use them. ** We will cover quick, effective ways to do these in coming sections

Walking the Talk

How can you benefit from this Tip for Sanity?

  1. Name one issue where you're having difficulty.

  2. What is it you hope to gain, experience or enjoy by persisting in this dynamic? There are always beautiful, universal, innocent core values driving our choices. What innocent core value are you hoping to feed by making this choice?

  3. Where else might you go, or what else might you do with your time instead, that might afford you the gain without the added difficulty?
